General Indications
Respiratory Px can be a beneficial support for people having acute respiratory attacks and chronic problems due to airborne irritants or allergens. Therefore, we recommend that Respiratory Px be taken daily for a period of time whether there are active respiratory complaints present or not. When people do try it they may want to try it daily for a month or two, not a day or two.*

We recommend that patients wean respiratory medicines and treatments only under the supervision of their physicians. Respiratory issues are potentially serious and severe complications can occur.*

Respiratory Px can be taken periodically. For example, people can use it when they go to visit someone that has a lot of dogs or other trigger allergens. Or, if they have acute respiratory attacks just one season a year, like spring, they might want to take a maintenance dose during that time of year.*

Respiratory Px combines herbs commonly used in the western world for supporting healthy respiration. Ginger(Zingiber officinale) is prized in Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine for its versatility and enhancement of other herbs in a combined formula. It is included in Respiratory Px because of the role digestion and food allergies often play in the etiology of respiratory issues. Ginger is used frequently in Ayurvedic medicine, both as a digestive stimulant and detoxifying agent, and throughout the orient for its warming and soothing qualities. Lobelia (Lobelia inflata) is one of the first herbs to consider in respiratory problems due to its antispasmodic, expectorant and respiratory stimulant properties and long history of safe and successful use (Chevallier), however, it may cause stomach pain, nausea, or vomiting in some people. It is well complemented by the smooth muscle relaxant Hyssop (Hyssopus officinalis). The combination of these herbs may be part of any comprehensive plan to promote optimal respiratory health.*

Dosage
Respiratory Px is made strong intentionally so that people can take fewer capsules per day. The typical dose is one capsule two to three times a day.

Respiratory Px is made for adults (18 years or older) and is too strong for children.

Side Effects and Management
High doses of Respiratory Px can result in stomach pain, heartburn, nausea, or vomiting.

One capsule three times a day will usually not cause nausea in a typical adult. About 10% of adults taking that dose on an empty stomach will get queasy from it. The queasiness may go away if they take the Respiratory Px with food. Therefore we recommend that Respiratory Px always be taken with food and under the guidance of a physician. If patients still have some queasiness even taking it with food, then they can reduce the dose to one capsule two times a day with food (which may be enough for some patients to reduce other forms of therapy).*

Taking more than four capsules per day will likely result in nausea and vomiting. Therefore, we do not recommend that people take more than 3 capsules of Respiratory Px per day except under the supervision of their physicians.

Combinations:

Healthy Foundation
It appears that trouble with the digestive tract may contribute to chronic respiratory issues, hives, and allergic reactions in general.*

A large amount of the body's lymphoid (infection fighting) tissue is in the digestive tract. This tissue is known as Gut Associated Lymphoid Tissue (GALT). Since the digestive tract takes in substances from the outside world, it is important for the body to have a strong defensive presence there. We believe that people with malfunctioning digestive tracts can develop allergies and hypersensitivities.*

Since poor respiratory function and bronchial inflammation can be of an allergic nature, we like to think of Respiratory Px as the primary support and Healthy Foundation as the secondary support. Healthy Foundation is geared toward the digestive tract and contains bioflavanoids which are important for allergies and hives. Healthy Foundation is also aimed at the liver, which is important because the liver actually breaks down antigen complexes.*

Healthy Foundation can be thought of as a general support for the body. We believe that taking Healthy Foundation and Respiratory Px together for a few months is an excellent supportive measure for people with respiratory problems. Another thing that a person can take as an additional supportive measure would be Metabolic Nutrition drink. The Quercetin in the drink may reduce the mast cells' (histamine releasing cells) release of histamine. It also contains vitamin C and bioflavonoids which also may assist with allergies and respiratory problems.*
